Sweet Treats To Help Overcome Addiction!

Two of the hardest addictions I gave up when I decided to live the Nutritarian lifestyle were Diet Coke and bubble gum! I have only been drinking Diet Coke for the past few years, so when I FINALLY decided to kick the habit, it wasn't that difficult (I had "quit" several times before, but for the wrong reasons, now I am finally ready to put my health first).  It has been extremely hard to give up bubble gum! I have been a major bubble gum chewer since I was a child. I can go through about 10-20 pieces a day.  When I was young  I would ride my bike several miles just to get 25 cents worth of double bubble.  This has been a 30+ year addiction!

"The science on food addiction has now established that highly palatable foods (low-nutrient, high-calorie, intensely sweet, salty, and/or fatty foods - those that make up the majority of the Standard American Diet) produces the exact biochemical effects in the brain that are characteristic of substance abuse." - Dr. Fuhrman

Here are a few of my favorite treats that are
"Eat to Live" approved!

Medjool Dates with fresh almond butter! This is absolutely one of the most amazing "desserts" I have ever had! I love it! Easy, quick and delicious!

I tried this the other day because I was craving something sweet... I made some Quinoa and then used my Nutribullet to blend up some dates and almond milk and poured it over the top. Craving satisfied!

Chocolate Smoothie!
My favorite breakfast or anytime treat!

Frozen Bananas (This is the key ingredient)
1/2 C Almond Milk
1/2 C Water
1 Tbsp Chia Seeds
1 Tbsp Flaxseed
1 Teas Cocoa Powder
1-2 dates (pitted of course)
1/4 Teas Cinnamon (optional)

I don't really measure any of this, I just throw it all in my Nutribullet and blend it together.  You can just make "icecream" with the frozen bananas, almond milk and cocoa.
Enjoy!

The Rest of the Story...My Year of Change!

Almost 40 and mother of 6 children
ETL (Eat to Live) and DYT (Dressing Your Truth) has truly changed the way I feel about myself and others around me. I am more tolerant of others and myself, knowing now that we all come with our own energy and personalities in this life-we don't all think alike! -or Look ALIKE, nor should we!

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER

As soon as I watched the DYT course I began to make immediate changes. Three bags of clothes went to the DI (thrift store) I got rid of anything Black because it was not in my colors. It became so easy to shop knowing what to look for that would look good on me. I trusted the system and went for it full throttle-that's my types way "Ready, Fire, Aim.." You can ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you I never liked to shop for clothes, I could never decide on anything and I know now it was because I was not living true to myself! I used to just wear a big T-shirt and really ugly fitting jeans. I don't believe in wasting a lot of money on clothes, but that is exactly what I was doing buying so many things that did nothing for my boyish figure and were horrible colors on me. After learning the program it was a dream to shop!-plus I had lost around 30 lbs with ETL. I could pick out clothes so easy and I know its  because they were finally true to me.

Before-On my way to the Salon
I continued on the ETL lifestyle and finally stopped loosing weight at a few months into it. My body knew were to stop and it was exactly the goal weight I had set for myself. I continue on this way of eating today and don't ever plan on stopping. Personally I think it is the best anti-aging solution ever! I feel so much better physically and mentally. So many things have happened this year and I've tried so many new things that it will take me too many posts to relay them all. I've changed my entire wardrobe, hair, makeup, way of thinking and all of those several times!  I have had so much fun experimenting with DYT and trying ETL kind of foods. I have had so many people compliment me its weird! They have said how put together I look-or how amazing I look, I must have been pretty bad before ;) I know there are many good things out there to help you on your journey to wholeness-these are just the two amazing things that helped me and I hope through this blog someone will find that little bit of help or inspiration that they need.

I finally cut my hair off in December and I love it, I'm finding more of the real me everyday! Now Go and Find the real YOU!

What a difference a year makes!

Before Pictures Taken Dec.28th 2013                                           After Pictures Taken Feb. 18th 2015

A little over a year ago this was me...You can be the judge if a year has changed my shape, style, and whole outlook on life. I think it has! Its amazing how much our Father in Heaven looks after us. When we pray for help it comes by small and simple means and only when we are ready.

I had dabbled with being a vegetarian a few years ago, I never lost any weight, but it came in handy later when one day I discovered the Nutritarian Lifestyle. It was late December 2013 and I had heard if you start a goal before the end of the year you are more likely to achieve it. I saw an ad for T25 on the TV and thought  "this is the answer I will be slim and ripped in a month!" I ordered quickly and couldn't wait to start. On Dec. 28th I took the above before photos and started my first T25 workout. I did the Diet it came with to a T! I started losing weight and was very excited. A couple of weeks into it, I found a small paper in a desk drawer (I scribble notes on anything close by) it said "Joel Furhman-Book" So I looked it up (Eat to Live) and it was one I had wanted to look into a year earlier after watching "Forks over Knives" a documentary on Netflix. I looked it up on my kindle and bought it. After reading it haphazardly I began his diet immediately. I stopped counting calories, eating meat or dairy and exercising so much. (T25 was a little hard on my back) The weight began to come off just like he said it would. The more Beans and Greens I ate the better.

Then in February I got a book from a sister in law, it was "Dressing Your Truth" by Carol Tuttle. She had all ready been doing the program for nearly a year I had never really paid attention to what she was trying to convey. I obviously wasn't ready at that point in my life. By this time though I truly wanted to improve myself for my husband and family. There are to many divorces these days and I wanted to do everything in my power to make my marriage last forever. That means I should do what I can to take care of my body-IT will improve your relationship to do so :).
The first day of DYT I was staying at my parents home and I bought the online course. These pictures are a couple of days into DYT and only one Month after starting ETL. My skin and face became much smoother and firmer.

Next Post...The rest of the story!
